Hotel
Relais delle Picchiaie has 49 rooms split between
three buildings. The main structure, where you will find most
of the higher graded rooms, is on three levels even if there
are only 2 rooms on the second floor. There
are 4 rooms that via connecting doors can be smartly transformed
into family accommodation. In addition to double rooms there
are also two single rooms. All come equipped with air conditioning,
direct telephone, colour TV and mini bar. Fourteen of the
rooms have balconies and a similar number have sea views.
En-suite bathrooms are extremely clean and spacious. Complimentary
kits are given to all guests. The private bathrooms have a
bath tub or a shower. Electric hairdryers are also at guests’
disposal.
Cribs
are available for very young guests and in specific rooms
your pets are also welcome.
Breakfast is a must as the waiters keep the tables well laden
with fresh fruits, cheeses, hams and cereals to very late
in the morning. If you fancy some scrambled eggs just ask.
Common areas are characterized by high wooden beamed ceilings
and large windows to admire the view into the bay. The Picchiaie
was designed by one of the leading hotel architects of the
day when it was built around a Victorian villa some forty
years ago. Sofas provide comfortable seating for reading or
playing board games in a spacious climate controlled environment.
Here you can also have a game of billiards or take a drink
from the well stocked bar. The reception is open 24 hours.
There is even a grand piano, whose cords are struck out three
evening a week. There is an internet point and complimentary newspapers
are provided for guests.
The
restaurant and bar
At Relais delle Picchiaie do not expect hotel food. The restaurant
serves a menu of creative Mediterranean cuisine that draws
from the traditions of Tuscan fare, the particularities of
the Isle of Elba and the talents of the chef. There are fish
and meat options on the first three of the four courses and
a light choice if you’re keeping an eye on the calories.
Sweets are home-made. The cellar holds wines produced in local
vineyards.
Ask the highly qualified and experienced Sommelier to advise
you on the right wine to enhance the flavours of your culinary
choices. Waiters are impeccably turned out and the service
they offer matches.
Pool and gardens
Amongst the lawn and flower beds the hotel has two swimming
pools, one of which is a Jacuzzi. You’ll find plenty
of sun beds to allow you to relax in the sun or the shade
of palm trees.
Wellness and Fitness Centre
In the fitness Centre you work out or can take a Turkish bath
and sauna but in particular you can enjoy an Ayurveda whole
body massage by qualified personnel.
Tennis, mountain biking, billiards and table tennis
The hotel has two tennis courts, plenty of bikes, a plush
billiard table in the reception area and an outdoor ping-pong
table. All are free of charge. Walking and cycling are made
easy on the island by the highly developed network of paths
that crisscross its wooded slopes.
Golf
At just 5 minutes drive from Hotel Picchiaie is the Islands
golf course “Aquabona”. The 9 hole federation
listed structure is short but tight. Guests of Hotel Relais
delle Picchiaie enjoy a price of 36 Euro instead of 45 Euro
for 18 holes. Clubs, buggies and trolleys are all available
for hire.
