
The Hotel Relais delle Picchiaie is sited in a locality of
the same name in the municipality of Portoferraio. Picchiaie
is the Italian word for an area inhabited by woodpeckers,
which as one would expect, are in abundance around the hotel’s
grounds.

How to Get There
By Car : Ferries sail to Elba from Piombino.
Crossings are regular but heavily booked on summer weekends.

From the North take the A12 motorway to Rosignano,
come off on to the duel carriage way, direction Rome.
Exit at Piombino and follow the signs for
the port.
From the South take the Rome to Civitavecchia
motorway which leads on to the duel carriage way, direction
Livorno. Exit at Piombino
and follow the signs of the port.
After a 50 minutes crossing you land in Portoferraio.
Exit the port and follow signs initially for Porto Azzurro.
Follow the Porto Azzurro road for 4 km and
the road leading to the hotel, which has yellow name signs
either side of it, is on the left after “Elbaland”
fun park.
If you prefer not to drive the Hotel can arrange a transfer
from Pisa International Airport or a pick up from Portoferraio
sea port. Simply leave us a note when booking
and we’ll get back to you.
By Air : Pisa International Airport is an
hour from the ferry. The Marina di Campo airport on the Island
can be reached from many Italian and European cities and is
about 10 km from the hotel. You can hire a car at either location.
By train : Not an easy way to arrive. Please
